This is a new record Northern Pike in Canada .. He caught it on Turtle Lake .
Check this thing out.. The man (in the photos below), was fishing and caught a 36" Pike.
As he was reeling it in, a 56" - 55 lb Pike tried to eat it !!!!!

He landed them both in the same net. The last picture is unreal.

This picture got me too. I did some research on it a when I found it on the new about 6 weeks ago. According to snopes.com, the picture is not from Canada, but they believe from Europe. It has apparently been around for a few years. Either way, THAT is one big fish!

I can confirm Mychal's statements about this being a European Pike. I recieved an email 18 to 24 months ago with photos of this big dude and a description of the catch indicating it was a european pike -- what do they eat there? Carp?... Silly me -- other pike of course.

So I decided to see what I might find on google about this monster:

I found a story from the guy that caught it in the Netherlands, here is the link:

http://www.pacgb.co.uk/articles/blomedit.htm

Don't show the picture to my kids or they will never jump off the dock again.

Exactly!

This picture has been running around with the fake "Canadian record" story for a couple years already!

Apparently though, some guy on Kipawa saw a 6ft pike swimming around lol, not sure after how many scotch though!
